Foxy at the Mid Hants Railway.

7822 had a great weekend at the Mid Hants Railway, and it was a pleasure to be a part of such a well run event. 7822 looked very much at home hauling a variety of trains "over the Alps". We will add some pictures to the gallery soon! 7822 is now back at the WSR preparing for the festive season.

Foxy Events - Saturday 8th September 2018

Foxy Reunites with Dinmore

 

7822 continues to perform well at the WSR and we are very grateful for this, she looks the part and seems to be pleasing the crews and passengers. She has now reunited with 7820 "Dinmore Manor" and it may not be too long until 7828 "Odney Manor" returns to traffic. One third of the Barry Survivors all in one place.

 

Foxy Events - Saturday 21st July 2018

The summer social is tomorrow night at Llangollen Railway, departing Llangollen at 18:30. If you haven't yet booked a ticket, please contact mathew.grindley@live.co.uk to book a place.

Entertainment and refreshments are included as well as a 16 mile steam hauled trip. All for the price of £20 which all goes to Foxcote Manor.

Foxy Stops for Washout - July

​

7822 has completed another 28 steamings in a very short space of time through June and July. She has a few repairs following th reports of the drivers but she will now revert to standby engine at the West Somerset Railway. She has had a very busy summer so far and we are extremely pleased with her performance.

The Annual Summer Social @ Llangollen Railway. Starting at 18:00 on Saturday 21st July 2018. Tickets cost £20 including a steam hauled round trip, buffet and entertainment. All proceeds to 7822.

​

Also the Foxy Somerset Social @ West Somerset Railway on Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th September 2018. Return coach travel from Nantwich is provided and pick ups can be made en route. Weekend rover tickets will be provided with the FMS event ticket, all you will need is to arrange accommodation in Minehead. Price to be announced but there will be discounts for 7822 members.

Foxy's Pitstop - May

​

7822 has stopped briefly at the West Somerset Railway for a washout and 28 day inspection, who knows when she last did 28 days in steam in one month! She is up and running again now, lets hope she keeps going!

​

Llangollen Railway Western Changeover Weekend

​

We are delighted to inform you that around £500 was raised over the weekend at Llangollen Railway. 

​

Thank you to every one that has supported us as we try to keep Foxy in steam for years to come. Thank you also to Alasdair for manning the stall all weekend, and to Berwyn Stationmaster Ben Jackson for allowing us some space on the station.

 

30 Years in Steam! - April​

 

7822 has now reached 30 years since her comeback from restoration. She was relaunched into traffic on 9th April 1988 and after 3 overhauls she is still in steam. A remarkable feat that the society are very proud of. Here's to another 30 years of 7822.

WSR Spring Gala

7822 is in steam at the West Somerset Railway Spring Gala this week until Sunday and we are pleased to be featuring in such a big event. We hope you get chance to go and see her in action.

7822 Update - February 2018

 

Foxy has now passed er annual boiler inspection so we are looking forward to the year ahead at the West Somerset Railway. In two weeks time we will see a GWR (and BR (W)) themed spring gala where 7822 will feature alongside locos from the 57XX, 69XX, 14XX and 94XX classes. As well as an S160!

Gearing Up for the Season

 

7822 currently at Minehead shed where she is having a number of jobs done to get her all set for the year ahead. The team at the WSR have given her a clean and she was winterised before the rough weather. Trustee Martin Fuller has been down a few times to keep on top of things. We are hopeful of a successful year for the old girl. 

​

She has had some broken stays replaced, a new drawhook and shackle, gauges calibrated, a full inspection and a boiler exam. 

​

We will update you on her running dates.

2019 Rumours

​

7822 has a contract to run at the WSR for the whole of 29018 but we havent opened formal discussions for 2019 yet. Members will be updated on the situation in the next newsletter. Any rumour of 2019 contracts being signed are untrue.
